If you have been following the gaming news lately then you surely have heard of Apex Legends, a free-to-play title set in the Titanfall universe. The Battle Royale was just released on February 4th, 2019, and is already gaining momentum within a few days of release. Developed by Respawn Entertainment, a subsidiary of EA, was first revealed and released within the same day. Within its first 72 hours since release, over 10 million players have already played the game with 1 million players concurrently.
This title is currently available on Xbox, PS4, and PC. However, companies are already realizing the impact of the mobile platform, thanks to games like Fortnite Mobile, PUBG Mobile, and many others. For this reason, in a recent investors call, EA’s CEO, Andrew Wilson is quoted to have said the following regarding Apex Legends:
As I said earlier, we are looking at how to take the game to mobile and cross-play over time, and I also expect that this game will have tremendous value in Asia, and we’re in conversations about that.
This confirms that the mobile port of Apex Legends will actually be identical to the console game and not a knock off. The game is quite fascinating, bringing legendary characters featuring powerful abilities into team battles. Respawn Entertainment promises an improved Battle Royale experience in Apex Legends. Some of the features described that enhances the game in comparison to others are ”Respawn Beacons, Smart Comms, Intelligent Inventory, and an all new-way to drop into the action with Jumpmaster deployment.”
It is exciting for us to see more action-packed titles cross over to the mobile platform. We know that such a game would be more than welcome in the mobile esports world where teams will be able to compete against one another.
While there is no release date as of now, we suspect a mobile port is likely to be released in Q4 of 2019 or even in early 2020. Stay tuned with our website for the latest news about Apex Legends. You can watch the gameplay trailer for this game below.
